Awarded the Grand Prix at the 6th Japan Local Souvenir Academy, these pickles are crafted with the rare, traditional “Shakkinnashi” soybeans, grown exclusively in Chichibu region. Known as the “phantom soybean” due to its challenging cultivation and limited availability, the Chichibu Shakkinnashi soybeans are prized for their rich umami flavor. Through a special cultivation agreement with select local farms, our store has successfully brought these extraordinary soybeans to life, transforming their unique taste into delicious pickles.

Kinako beans is a signature product of our brand Koedo Mameya since its founding. While typical Otafukumame (sweetened broad beans) are soaked in honey one time, our kinako beans are carefully soaked three times, which results in a rich and intense flavor. Crafted by skilled craftsmen, our Otahukumame represents a rare and exceptional technique, one of the finest in Japan. The kinako powder used in product is made from the legendary 'Shakkinnashi' soybeans deriving from the Chichibu region.
